hey guys what's going on it's abut midnight man welcome back to the channel or another blog is a special one and an important one we're gonna be comparing two avocados top capture cards where it comes to streaming and recording gameplay from our computers those two capture cards are the elgato hd60 s and the elgato hd60 s plus both of which I've used quite extensively on Windows OS and Mac OS so assuming you're in the market to get one of these two capture cards here my goal at the end of this post is to make you convinced which capture card you should be picking up I don't want you to make the wrong decision and you should be totally informed does that sound good to you that sounds good to me let's get this started okay let's first start off with the price of these two capture cards the HD 60s is gonna come in at a hundred and eighty dollars you can pick it up on Amazon you get that prime so you get it in quick pretty cool right and it's a solid capture card it you know we'll go into this more in specifics but the specifications here in a second the HD 60s plus comes in at $200 but it's not available on Amazon so you'll have to pick it up through of Gatos website only a $20 difference between these two capture cards so is that extra twenty bucks to get the S Plus gonna be worth it hmm well if we take a look at the specifications on paper they're very similar but you can see that the HD 60s plus is the better capture card overall on the plus you have HDR ten which stands for high dynamic range so essentially you're gonna have much greater brightness contract and better color accuracy the max bitrate comes in a smidge higher at 16 megabits per second and you'll be able to record up the 2160p at 30 frames per second so overall the HD 60s plus you'll have a better image quality and record at a higher level the one thing that HD 60s has on the plus is the multi app support so let me break that down for you if you look at the big picture here both of these capture cards are multi have to support it but with the HD 60s what they mean by multi app is within their Elgato software so the HD 60s is compatible with the Elgato Game Capture software for Windows but if you take a look here the HD 60s plus is not compatible with the Game Capture for Windows so what are you gonna use for Windows then well you're gonna use the 4k capture utility tool which is compatible with the HD 60s and the HD 6 CS plus it looks like on the windows side of things they're trying to push the 4k utility tool more because that way you're gonna be able to record it in higher quality you can also split down your video and your commentary tracks is set up to be a solid gameplay recording tool more than something you can also edit the gameplay clips in that's what the original capture card software is for now what about the compatibility on the Mac OS side well for Mac users you'll be able to use the HD 60s and the Plus with the original game capture software in the case you have a Mac and you want to use the elgato hd60 s with OBS or stream labs OBS which just came out by the way go check it out you'll have to download OBS link if you're trying to figure that out luckily I made a blog on it already so you can check the card here or link description below you might be asking yourself where is the HD 60s Plus for compatibility with the OBS link guys you don't need it with the Mac it just works natively meaning you can plug in this capture card to your computer open up OBS and it will work using the Game Capture as a device let's get a little deeper here now I've owned this elgato hd60 s for a little bit over two years now so I have some good experience and some bad experience to share with you guys regarding this capture card using the free standard downloaded Elgato Game Capture software I had no problems recording and streaming on Windows and Mac even connecting all the cables and setting everything up I mean really no problem with that but here's where things got a little bit dicey I wasn't feeling the elgato software with streaming it's just there's just not a lot of features within it for the longest time I was using the elgato software with HD 60s to do my live streams it did the job but it just wasn't as customizable as I wanted it to so fast forward I think it was September when El Gato announced that they were releasing the OBS link so that way we could use OBS studio to do live streams and I was like yes this is perfect this is exactly what we all want especially Mac users here so we can have more customizable streams so I already downloaded OBS I got OBS link and the NDI plug-in so I could use that as a source within OBS and it wasn't working right I found most of my problems coming from using the USB C to USB cable and since these new MacBook Pros they don't have USB ports I was using an adapter to convert from the USB to USB C and that's where the issues were coming in when I got a super speed USB C to USBC cable so that means a direct connection from the elgato hd60 s to my laptop my problems were mostly gone I was able to get a signal all the time now but the other issues that came into play was if I was streaming for let's say 30 minutes to an hour the audio would just shift on the post and sometimes in the post it would get choppy for some reason my Internet's good my computer's good but or my viewers it was not a good experience for them is inevitable like the stream is fine and working well for the beginning but then it just stops working how it should so in my viewers tell me this stuff while I'm streaming I had to disable and re-enable the OBS link every time my audio got thrown off or the picture got thrown off like whichever this got so annoying to the point to where I decided that I'm gonna use boot camp on my Mac so I can partition my solid-state drive to have a a portion of it for Windows so that I could download OBS to that and use the HD 60s there I had no problem no lag no audio getting shifted everything was working fine which leads me to believe that this was an OBS laying NDI plug-in issue if they just it works for a little a bit but then it doesn't those are just my subjective experiences so what I want to do in this video was bring a couple of other users that have also used the elgato hd60 s and give you their point of view and their experiences here you go what's going on people so my experience with using string labs OBS on a MacBook has been very great after I took the time to really learn the software because when you use Mac you just got to be very patient to learn and take extra steps to learn other things because there's different than PC but the experience has been great it worked everything worked well over smooth I just had one lonely problem Elgato now if you use the elgato hd60 s I'm gonna let not gonna let you know there is gonna be a little delay and that kind of starts to piss me off a little bit good I'm still working on how to figure that out how to fix that delay get everything is set up until I get the new one the HD 60s plus that's the one that Elgato recommends from for Mac but I still want to be able to figure out the HD 60s you notice I'm here to help you guys so any questions you guys have feel free to leave a like comment down below and hey well she bored Brandon from Creighton TV you know the sign that you guys for those of you don't my name is malik mursaleen and I'm here today to talk to you about my HD 60s experience and kind of my thoughts and review on the product a little bit so I bought this is to help me stream games live with y xbox and it was pretty tricky to figure out how to set it up with my Mac so that is when I found midnight man Kenny's videos and they really actually helped me just set it up in general with OBS and OBS link that's what I use to stream on Twitch so once I downloaded the OBS link started working and I was able to stream using my computer and what I do actually love about this is that it's got enough HDMI outputs and inputs that I can watch it on my TV and also, stream it on my computer so that I have that bigger screen that I can play on and then I can also stream it instead of just having to look at my computer screen the only things that I've still been trying to figure out while streaming because I'm kind of a new the streamer is the volume and audio options on OBS like my talking is not completely muted because sometimes the game we can't really loud I think it just depends on what software you're playing on what console I think there's a lot of different factors that go into that but I do like that I'm able to adjust those volume settings to kind of fix it and play around with that so I hope that my commentary has been helpful if you're considering purchasing the HD 60s or if you already have one and you're trying to figure out how to set it up so I would say that my thoughts overall are that the HD 60s is pretty good and I would recommend it if you are looking to stream or record so I'm gonna let you guys get back to Kenny but thank you for listening there you just heard a different viewpoint of experiences with the HD 60s by Johanna and Creighton TV so thank you so much for joining me on the video I'll leave your links the description below don't worry go give them a follow and check them out let's now get into the HD 60s Plus this capture card works just as good if not better on Windows using the 4k utility tool and Bs and stream labs OBS now of course my main interest with the AC 60s plus was seeing how well it worked with OBS on Mac my initial test looked good picture quality perfect audio I had no audio I'll be a little bit more straightforward here I didn't have the chat link cable audio coming through without it yeah HDMI that came through without a problem but I like using my headphones to hear my gameplay for somewhat reason the same settings I had for the HD 60s to record chat link audio was not working with the plus so I ended up reaching back out to support and they told me that the HD 60s plus uses a standard UVC driver which makes it plug and play with Mac OS in Windows but what you have to do with the HD 60s plus is if you're using Mac you need to have the Elgato Game Capture software you load that up and then you go into the settings and you have to switch that to analog I did not have to do that for the HD 60s but I had to do it for the Plus on Windows, I also didn't get audio so I had to do something similar by going into the 4k utility tool going into the settings and then set it to record via the analog thank, you support because after that, I was flying using OBS with that capture card on the Mac was working beautifully from there on out like my streams solid you guys have been telling me hey nope the audios are not off it looks good picture quality you know you're rocking I was very happy to hear that that's just great compared to the HD 60s where you know I'll throw some clips on screen right now where there's just that little bit of delay on OBS and of course like I said before the audio and the video picture we're throwing off on my streams but if you look at some AC 60s plus footage here we can see that the gameplay and OBS are almost perfectly synced up gosh there's literally no lag here it's just it's beautiful if you made it this far in the video that's really the biggest difference between these two cards the HD 60s plus is the lag free the H The 60s you're susceptible to lag potentially instant game preview and lag free is not the same thing HD 60s plus I'm doing recordings or streaming to YouTube it is just beautiful guys, okay you're probably sitting there now saying alright which capture card do I hit then 80 60s or the HD 60s plus well if you don't own a capture card whatsoever and you're on Mac OS or even Windows I say go for the AC 60s plus just spend the extra 20 bucks man the 20 extra bucks the HD 60s plus doesn't really show its justice because you're getting a the better image quality you can record up to 2k at 30 frames per second as long as your computer can meet the minimum specifications for the AC 60s plus you're gonna be in business it's gonna be lag free your audio and your video won't be thrown off it's gonna be together I promise you it is beautiful you know what I have to commend our daughter for having that quick turnaround getting the AC 60s plus out after the initial release of the HD 60s they probably realized the issues what the AC 60s and were able to fix those with an updated capture card they do need to get this thing up on Amazon and that'll make it a little bit easier for people to realize what's out there and to get the best thing possible us Mac OS users have gotten some great headway where it comes to the compatibility between a gato and Mac OS but we still got some things to come that new 4k 60s plus capture card that Elgato just released that's not even compatible with Mac OS we also don't have access to the 4k utility tool which we can record in higher qualities on Mac OS something else Mac doesn't have is the elgato sound capture tool but even without those things I feel that my stream setup is in a great spot right now I'm gonna show it to you guys at some point soon in another blog but uh this s+ man it definitely saved me if you still don't trust my word for which capture card would work best for you to go on to a goddess website they have a feature here you can put in your setup and it would tell you the best capture that would work for you for the Mac users they don't even list the HD 60s they know that there are issues with it well there you guys have it man that is the blog I don't think I missed anything I'm pretty sure all the bases were covered regarding these to capture cards of course if I missed anything you guys would let me know in the comment section below if you enjoyed the blog make sure you hit it with the big thumbs up followers to the channel with those post notifications on and I will see you guys in my next blog I've recorded this for now an hour and 12 minutes I
